VAT Deadline Reminders

A VAT client is four deadlines a year, and each one depends on getting their records in time. This works out every deadline and does the asking.

You keep one row per VAT-registered client, with the months their quarters end - Mar/Jun/Sep/Dec, Stagger 1, 2 or 3, or Monthly. The deadline is one month and seven days after each period ends, which works out as the 7th of the month after next.

Three days after a quarter ends it asks the client for their records, with a date to send them by, and reminds them on that date if nothing has come in. You hear at 14, 7 and 2 days before each return is due, in one email for every client at once, and the day after if one is missed. If a deadline lands on a weekend, it says so and names the Friday.

When you file, put the period end in 'Filed up to' and the next quarter takes over. Clients on the annual accounting scheme are named and left alone rather than guessed at.

It is a reminder system, not advice: it works out dates from what you put in the sheet, using the rules as they stood in September 2026. You remain responsible for your filings. When a rule or rate changes, the setting that holds it is on the Settings tab.
